They blew it, quite honestly, at Wrathgate. They could have made it interesting by having Saurfang the Elder(You know, the one people actually gave a fuck) dying. Instead, they wussed out. And for good reason, I guess. The vocal part of the Horde on the forums is really whiny about it's racial leadership, Saurfang and Thrall in particular. If either of them died, I don't think Blizzard would ever hear the end of it.

Melizande- 03-05-2009
Blizzard has done a lot of faction specific stuff in the new expansion. I immediately think of the Nexus, and how a Horde raid encounters a frozen Alliance party and Alliance groups encounter a pack of Horde popsicles.

For a while I've been thinking about this and half of me wonders if they'd ever attempt to pull a stunt like that in a raid instance — for example, pitting a Horde raid against an enslaved and corrupted Saurfang (younger), whereas Alliance raids would run headfirst into Bolvar.

Could be cool.

I'm still a fan of the idea of Sarufangs soul in Bolvars body like the old DK's, except Bolvars body seemed to be dissolved by the new plague the burnt to cinders

I concur.

See, I've been trying to get Sahkyo the horde questline FOR the wrathgate so I can get a feel for what goes on with the hordeside. Obviously the cinematic is the same, but the storylilne leading up to it would be really interesting to see from both angles.

In a way, "one boss for each faction" may make more sense, because most folks probably won't see both sides of the storyline lead-up, and may not have a strong connection with each of the wrathgate heroes.

I'm hearing this argument a lot too, and I can understand where this is coming from: my fiance gawked at me when I gave him my theory, stating simply, "Bolvar's a hunk of burning flesh because of the plague and the dragons!"
I tried to counter-argument with stating that you never see Bolvar's armor, or his body- or any indication of either! Only his shield is on the battlefield.
I don't know about saurfang's body, but it's quite obvious that the Lich King pulls something (soul? essence?) out of Saurfang's body during the fight, too.

All speculation for now though. :/ I'm glad they made the raids a lot more progression friendly. I'd probably choke someone if I couldn't see this play out.

It's Saurfang's soul, it's what Frostmourne does best. wink.gif

I agree that Saurfang the Younger's death was wussing out on Blizzard's part. In the grand scheme of things, he's an unknown nobody while Bolvar is this big hero. Saurfang's death hardly had the same emotional impact as Bolvar's (when we thought he actually died!). :/

Someone else in the mmo-champion thread mentioned the same thing. The Lich King, Arthas (as the lich king), and Arthas (as the child.. not gonna say any spoilers here).  So it's a possibility.

It's more like this: Ner'zhul (the orc), Arthas' good-side (the ill child), and the corrupt Arthas (the man at the head of the table, i.e. the driver's seat) that comprise the Lich King's being.

True, it wasn't the same. However, I think Saurfang the Younger's death did have quite an emotional impact, not in the death itself but in bearing the news to his father. The Elder took it well, as Jr.'s death was ideal for an orc; yet, it's still very tragic for a father to have to bury his son.

Besides, we need Saurfang around to keep that impudent Garrosh in line. >_<

Nataszja- 03-05-2009
Yes, I agree! The Horde needs people like Saurfang the elder. To me he represents the true noble side of the orcish race, more so than Thrall. He's proud of being an orc and a really strong warrior, but at the same time humble and willing to admit that the Horde caused a lot of misery in the past they still haven't made up for. I think he would've made an excellent warchief!

I sympathize, as I have had things spoiled for me before. However, if you truly want to avoid spoilers, you need to stay away from websites that could have such information. My husband demonstrated this by not going online at all from the time that the last Harry Potter book was released until he finished reading it. He was just that determined to not have it spoiled.

Kaliden- 03-05-2009
I learned somewhere through the WOTLK buildup that it is impossible - despite all your best intentions to do so otherwise, to avoid spoilers if you go to any sort of website related to the thing you're trying not to spoil, so it's best to just get them out of the way. You can't really blame the people here for it.

Zedric- 03-05-2009
I pretend not to like spoilers, but I spoil the crap out of everything. *shrug*

Same here. Well, book spoilers bother me. But with movies and games, I don't mind so much because reading about something isn't the same as seeing it for myself. Heck, I willingly watched the Wrathgate video online before the expansion came out. ph34r.gif
